2019: Atiku Picks Obi As Running Mate

Atiku Abubakar, the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has chosen Peter Obi as his running mate in the 2019 general election.

Mr Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, is from the South East geo-political zone of the country.

The former Anambra governor, widely speculated as a top candidate for Mr Abubakar to pick as running mate visited the former vice president widely known as Atiku.

Quoting a source from the PDP, an online news portal – Journalist101.com – said a party source confided in it about Abubakar’s decision.

Another, online news medium – thesignal – also corroborated the claim.

The opposition party, as at press time, is yet to officially name who should deputise Atiku.

Also, Senator Ben Bruce, has congratulated Obi as the expected running mate to Atiku. NGPOLITICS had reported that the Bayelsa senator was to be picked for the position.

Congratulating the Anambra former governor the lawmaker on Friday said the combination of Atiku and Obi was one that will lift the country high.

“Congrats my friend and brother, Mr. Peter Obi on your selection as vice presidential candidate to H.E @atiku,” the lawmaker said in a tweet.

“Without doubt, this is a solid team that will lift Nigeria to her rightly place amongst the assembly of nations,” Bruce added.
