Buhari’s Former Minister, Alhassan, Returns To PDP
Aisha Alhassan, a former minister of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration has returned to the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP).
Mrs Alhassan, a former Women Affairs Minister, who willingly resigned her position re-obtained the membership card of the opposition party on Tuesday, POLITICS TIMES learnt from a source close to her.
She is a loyalist of Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the PDP.
Her return may not be unconnected to the emergence of Mr Abubakar who is the major challenger of the president in next year’s presidential election.
The duo were former members of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).
Even during her days in office she has not hidden her support for the former vice president popularly known as Atiku.
“Atiku is my godfather even before I joined politics,” she said in Hausa while interacting with BBC.
“And again, Baba Buhari did not tell us that he is going to run in 2019.
“Let me tell you today that if Baba said he is going to contest in 2019, I swear to Allah, I will go before him and kneel and tell him that ‘Baba I am grateful for the opportunity you gave me to serve your government as a minister but Baba just like you know I will support only Atiku because he is my godfather. If Atiku said he is going to contest,” Alhassan told the news medium last year.
