A bill which sought the disbandment of Kano Emirates into five domain was recently passed into law with the assent of the state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje on Wednesday.

This was after the state assembly, which has lawmakers of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in the majority, endorsed the move on Tuesday.

The emirate is currently headed by Lamido Sanusi, who is reportedly engaged in a political battle with Mr Ganduje.

A new twist has been added to it as two lawmakers from the state assembly, belonging members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), told Premium Times, that they have in their possession, an order from Kano State High Court preventing the implementation of the newly passed law.

The PDP lawmakers who claimed they obtained the order on Friday afternoon told the online news medium that the House was not properly convened before the bill was hurriedly passed into law.

Meanwhile, the governor has dispelled speculations in some quarters that his action to create new emirates is due to his political differences with the monarch.
