Godwin Emefiele, the governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has been reappointed to the position by President Muhammadu Buhari.
This was made public by Bukola Saraki, outgoing Senate President, who read a letter sent to the red chamber seeking confirmation of the apex bank boss.
The letter was sent by Mr Buhari and read out during plenary on Thursday.
According to the letter, Mr Emefiele’s first tenure will expire on June 2 while his reappointment is the second and final term of five years.
Buhari sought confirmation of the reappointment, pursuant to the provisions of Section 81(2) of the CBN Act 2007.
